Addiction as a Response to Multi-Generational Trauma
We know that addiction “runs” in families. Now we are learning more about how addiction is frequently a response to multi-generational trauma and how we can treat addiction more effectively and deeply with tools that address multi-generational trauma.
“Addiction as a Response to Multi-Generational Trauma” is the title of the professional training that will explore the interplay of trauma within past generations and how it impacts anxiety, trauma and addiction in the present generation. The training program is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, at the Samaritan Counseling Center, 1803 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, Pa. In this training, instructed by Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, we will explore how to detect trauma in the larger family system and how it affects the propensity to seek out mood-altering chemicals and activities.
