Ancestor Stories: Combining Experiential Therapies of Psychodrama and Constellation Work for Professionals

What if:
  • The troubles that we carry are not ours?
  • There are other ways of knowing?
  • The body's ability to sense energy is a gift?
  • The experience makes the difference?

Join Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, on Sept. 17 and 18 at Caritas Healing Center, Tucson, Ariz., for greater happiness and healing for yourself and your clients.

This experiential two-day presentation offers a dynamic understanding of how our personal and professional relationships are impacted by those who came before us -- our ancestors -- and how to use the powerful experiential  methods of psychodrama and family constellation work to enrich or complete them.

You will learn how to combine these two of the most powerful experiential methods to discover hidden patterns in your family tree that may affect your relationships, business or health.

The first day, Sept. 17, is designed for anyone who wants to experience Karen's multi-dimensional model of experiential healing; professionals are welcome to attend and refer their clients.

The second day, Sept. 18, will be open to only to health professionals who want to integrate constellation work into their practices or use for personal growth and healing.

All health professionals and educators interested in experiential and alternative healing methods are welcome; psychodramatists, psychodrama trainees, creative arts therapists and alternative health professionals are especially welcome.

Learning objectives will include:
  • How to identify ancestral trauma as distinctly different than personal trauma.
  • Understanding the basic principles of psychodrama (the story) and constellation work (the energy pattern) and how they complement each other.
  •  How to use and adapt psychodramatic warm up activities to connect the group and permit the presence of ancestral cooperation.
  •  Assessing when a person is ready for constellation work and when psychodramatic enactment is a more helpful choice.
  •  Easily incorporating mindfulness, art, symbol, ritual and props in a variety of group and individual settings.

Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, TEP, is a master psychodrama trainer, psychotherapist and certified constellations facilitator. She is one of the first and one of the few people in the United States to currently  combine and teach psychodrama and systemic constellations.

She is the author of Integrating Psychodrama and Systemic Constellation Work: New Directions for Action Methods, Mind-Body Therapies and Energy Healing with Ronald Anderson and other books about experiential methods, including Healing Eating Disorders with Psychodrama and Other Action Methods: Beyond the Silence and the Fury with Linda Ciotola.  Her most recent book is Show and Tell Psychodrama: Skills for Therapists, Coaches, Teachers, Leaders.
