Body Care in the Digital Age: Self Care for Helping Professionals
Online training with CE & psychodrama credits 10 a.m. to noon, April 9th, 2021 ![]() During the past year, remote work has become necessary for many helping professionals, including psychotherapists and other counseling and coaching professionals. Although working remotely is a beautiful way to stay connected and have more freedom, it comes with its set of challenges – especially for the body.
We may find ourselves sitting for hours at a time only to notice the later effects of stagnant or painful energy in the body, including stiffness, back pain, neck pain and other physical problems. Incorporating movement and breath into your at-home work routine can transform your ability to work fully and nourish your body, mind and spirit. In this two-hour online training from 10 a.m. to noon April 9th, Tori Akerley, a certified yoga instructor, will guide you through a variety of breathing and movement techniques that will help you feel more embodied, energized, and grounded throughout your day of working online. This will be an interactive event for all levels and all bodies, no yoga experience necessary. You can expect to be doing many of the exercises seated in a chair, standing, and on the floor if that is accessible to you. Please bring a chair, comfy clothes that allow easy movement, and a yoga mat or towel if you have one. You will learn:
Tori will be assisted by Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, founder of the Lancaster School of Psychodrama and Experiential Psychotherapies, who will lead a short group process at the beginning and the end of the session to support psychodramatic learning and group sociometry. Tuition Tuition is $45 for the two-hour training. It includes the program, two CE credits and psychodrama hours, and handouts. In addition, the training will be recorded so you will be able to review all techniques as often as you wish. How to register
