Exploring Professional Ethics and Boundaries in Action

Professional training with CE credits
9 a.m. to noon Oct. 9, 2020 in Lancaster, Pa.

Our professional ethical codes of conduct help us preserve boundaries within our work, as well as our professional values. They give us a sense of competence and safety. They support our clients in feeling safe and respected and give our respective professional fields credibility and professionalism.

In this training workshop, instructed by Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, action methods help the usual “dry” topic of ethics come alive as we look at how our values guide the everyday aspects of our professional lives.

During  interactive training workshop, we will explore our relationship with basic ethical principles for mental health professionals and others. There will be opportunities to bring case studies forward.

This program includes the three hours of ethics programming that is required for social workers and others for recertification or re-licensure and fulfills the fulfills the requirement for three hours of continuing education credits for social workers, licensed counselors and marriage and family counselors.

In this interactive training workshop, you will learn:
  • How to evaluate your “relationship” with your code of ethics.
  • How to strengthen your ability to discuss issues relating to ethics and boundaries, dual and multiple relationships and other important issues.
  • How self care fits with ethical practice.
  • A three-step model for exploring ethical questions.
Presentation methods will include lecture, experiential activities and demonstration, group discussion and handouts. There will be ample time for questions, discussion and case consultation, as well as the option to address personal issues in a confidential atmosphere.
