Sculpture For Psychotherapy and Education:
As Easy as 1-2-3

Professional training with CE credits
9 a.m. to noon Feb. 14, 2020 in Lancaster, Pa
.

Here’s the story and the picture: the left side of our brain loves words; the right side loves images.

Therapeutic and educational sculptures – the practice of making an arrangement of people to hold poses to demonstrate an idea or a concept – is a powerful way to communicate complicated ideas that some learning styles have difficulty comprehending. It is sometimes called family sculpture or family sculpting, as developed by the legendary family therapist Virgina Satir, and is highly compatible to Dr. J.L. Moreno’s psychodrama.

In this workshop, led by Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, we identify the step-by-step basics of setting up a sculpture in psychotherapy, coaching and education settings.

In this training, you will learn::
  • How to introduce the concept of the therapeutic or educational sculpture to your clients or students.
  • How to warm up your group for the greatest level of interaction and interest.
  • How to use sculpture as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool in family therapy.
  • How to select the “characters” of the sculpture.
  • How to supplement the sculpture with props.
  • How to integrate the learning of the sculpture.
The topics of the sculptures presented will be determined by the interests of the participants enrolled in the training and their level of previous knowledge of experiential learning.  Among the topics that might be addressed: family systems, mental health and addiction, health and wellness, self care, and others.

This program is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon at Liberty Place, 313 W. Liberty St., Suite 263, Lancaster, Pa.
