Social Analysis: Building Positive Relationships in Groups and Everywhere
Professional training with CE credits Sociometry is the measurement of social networks in groups and in our lives.
As named by Dr. J.L. Moreno, the developer of psychodrama and the psychiatrist who coined the phrase “group psychotherapy,” the method of sociometry is actually the underpinnings of what we typically call group dynamics. It is the original social network analysis. Understanding the principles of sociometry and learning how to guide a collection of people into a cohesive and caring group of people truly makes a difference within a group or classroom setting; people who work 1-1 sessions can use these principles to discuss positive and healthy relationships with their clients. The fact is that people who are truly involved and caring of each other reduces against-medical-advice discharges in treatment centers; increases group cohesion, safety and ultimately the effectiveness of group work and classroom connection; and supports us in making positive relationship choices in our own lives.
